Distillery Barrels

Ireland is known for its whiskey, so when in Dublin why not visit one of the distilleries the city has to offer? With the revival of the whiskey industry in the city, a number of distilleries have opened their doors allowing visitors to experience the behind the scenes of the distilling process. Here at The Davenport, we have put together a guide for the distilleries of Dublin.

Jameson Distillery

Probably the most famous Irish whiskey makers of all, Jameson’s distillery is located on Bow Street, just a short LUAS ride away from O’Connell street. Its Smithfield location offers visitors a unique distillery tour and tasting experience. What’s more, you can blend your own take-home whiskey or take a whiskey cocktail making class. The experience is not to be missed.

Teeling Whiskey Distillery

Located in the Liberties, the Teeling Whiskey Distillery is a family run business that offers tours to see the process behind creating the perfect glass. The new generation of Teelings opened their distillery in the ‘Golden Triangle’, the historic distilling district of the city. The distillery is located a 5 minute walk from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and is open daily for tours and tastings.

Pearse Lyons Whiskey Distillery

Also in the historic whiskey district of the Liberties is the newly opened Pearse Lyons Distillery. The whiskey itself is distilled in St James’ Church. Tours here cover not only the process of making the drink, but also the history of the church it is made in. Pearse Lyons offers private tours for a truly unique experience.
